Nathan Weir, one of the Island Wheelers up and coming prospects has been selected to represent the under 14 Cycling Ulster Team at the 1er Errigal International Youth Tour 2012 on the 4th, 5th, and 6th of August. Nathans hard work and consistent good results has seen him be selected along with Jake Gray (East Tyrone Cycle Club), Ciaran McFadden (Errigal CC), and Conor McLoughlin (Newry Wheelers) to form a very strong four man Cycling Ulster team to compete in this prestigious event.
The event itself will be based in Churchill, Co Donegal, and will see teams travel from South Africa, Isle of Man, Scotland, England, and all corners of Ireland to compete in it. This event is the first real chance youths get at competing on a competitive 3 Day Tour and will be a fantastic experience for Nathan. The first stage kicks off with a 28.2km race on Saturday, followed by a 1.6km hill climb on Sunday morning with another 28.5km stage in the afternoon. The event will close with a criterium in Letterkenny on Monday along closed roads.
Everyone from the Island Wheelers would like to firstly congratulate Nathan on his selection, and wish him, and the rest of the Cycle Ulster team all the very best in the event.
