‘ A new year but the same routine ‘ – the intense cold experienced during January meant that although it was a new year we were obliged to stick with the same routine that 2010 finished with : i.e. cycling the main Moy – Portadown road. So there was a great sense of relief on Saturday 29th when the day dawned bright, clear and frost free, and we were able to choose a different route.
8 members of the Pleasure Team turned up and they quickly fell into routine as we headed down through Ardboe, Ballinderry and then into Coagh where we stopped for coffee. The return journey took us through Cookstown, Desertcreat and Newmills arriving back home around 1.00p.m.
We were joined this week by Dwyer and baby John – what a difference a year makes. Anyone contemplating taking up cycling should have a chat with John or Dwyer ; this time last year they were just learning the ropes and struggling with their fitness ; 12 months later they are skilled cyclists, extremely fit and a credit to the club.
One of the Pleasure Team’s latest recruits is big Dermot who has been with us for a few months, during which time he has made tremendous progress and has the potential to do big things in 2011. Under another guise big Dermot is co-manager of the St Josephs College’s U16 Gaelic football team which this week became the Tyrone U16 Champions. The Pleasure Team would like to congratulate Dermot on this achievement and wish him and his team every success in their Ulster campaign.
