Island Wheelers Reliability Trial 2012

The streets of Coalisland were a rainbow of colour on a dull, wet Sunday morning thanks to the 56 cyclists who took part in this year’s Island Wheelers Reliability Trial.  In the interest of safety, the inclement weather forced the club to change the route to the backup route on the morning of the event, however it’s a credit to everyone involved in marking out the new route so efficiently, insuring everybody knew where there were going.

The 56 cyclists rolled out of Coalisland at 10.00am, accompanied by lead, sweeper and support vehicles, and were soon joined by rain!  However, the rain didn’t dampen the spirits of these seasoned cyclists, nor their speed with the lead group coming home with an average speed of 21mph. They completed the challenging 65mile route which passed through Moy, Armagh, Newry, Poyntz Pass, Jerrettspass, Tandragee, Portadown and back to Coalisland where they were greeted with an excellent spread of refreshments which was more than welcomed by all.

Many thanks to all the cyclists who came from near and far to support the event, and to everyone who played a part in organising and running the Reliability Trial, it was nothing short of a great success.
