The Wheelers got their first taste of the action at the XMTB Spring Series at Ormeau Park last weekend. This was the first race of the 2012 season for the Island Wheelers, with Aidan, Cathal; and our latest member, Paul Daly all stepping up to the challenge.
This was the first of 3 rounds in the series, with the other 2 races in the series taking places in the same location over the next 2 Sundays. The men all finished the race in respectable shape, with Paul particularly impressive finishing well ahead of the experienced Cathal and Aidan in only his first race.
It was a nice wee reality check into the racing scene and a great event, on a course that is not too technical, suiting someone looking to break into the mountain bike racing scene. There are still two more rounds in the series which would be perfect for both our power house members and those looking to try something new!
