Wheelers go close at the Ulster TTT Championships

The Ulster Team Time Trial Championships at Woodgreen was night of mixed emotions for the Island Wheelers.  Noel McLoughlin, Peter Hughes, Richard Davidson, and Alan McKeown made up the Wheelers four man team who would go on to give it their all over 25 miles at Woodgreen.  The men clocked an excellent time of 53.21 to finish fourth overall, with an average speed in excess of 28mph, and only a teasing eight seconds off the medals.

The TTT was a completely new discipline to the men, and was the first time the Island Wheelers have ever been represented in such a race.  However, on the night, the team looked like seasoned pros, with the Island Wheelers train working like a well-oiled machine with each man doing their turn and keeping on the absolute limit throughout the 25 miles.  To top it all off, the four hung in together right to the finish line.

The TTT experience is like no other, with everyone agreeing just how much of a buzz the race was.  The Island Wheelers will be back next year, and hopefully there will be more than one team representing the Wheelers!
