Sunday saw the last round of the MTB season at Craigavon lakes, to our delight we had 9 Wheelers entered into the event, what a change from last year when there were 2 of us! Really great to see, so many people commented in the rise of the Island Wheelers in the MTB scene. This was a fast but energy sapping course, with a mix of speed section, Forest trail and Grass climbs (killer) ,7 riders took on the senior 4 race, this was a 3 lap event with the climb at the start having to be done 4 times to get to the finish line.
Paul Daly again had a great 3rd place and was pushed hard by Barry Kirkland who came 4th, Cathal Mc Guigan was 7th, Special note to -Gary Davidson 19th, Sean Scullion 22nd and Damien Lavery 36th all in their first race so brilliant results lads and great crack- Aidan Lafferty 3oth.
In the under 14 section Conor Boyle had another great 4th and Nathan Weir was 5th in his first attempt at the MTB Racing so great to see the youth again, and mums and Dads in the club should really consider this for next year as all the events are very child friendly and they seem to love it.
Well done to all the wheelers on the MTB scene and great to see our club right up there in the mix .
