This Saturday sees the first round of the Ernie Magwood Super 6 take place on the Omagh Road, sign on opens at 9am, first rider off at 10am. The league will once again be based on points over 5 rounds, and as usual will include the best prize money of any domestic league.
Last years champion John Heverin will be back to defend his title, Marcus Christie and John had a titanic battle last year at the seasons end for Ulster championship honours and it would be great to see them slug it out this year with the other big names. Last years defending vets champion and qualified mental “guru” Brendan McCourt has said all winter it’s in the head not the legs, as he has toughened his mental approach and will be hard to beat again.
The ladies league should be wide open, last years champion Heather Foley will have to tow her newborn twins around if she is to defend her title. There will be plenty of opposition from the young (and old) guns wanting to be top lady.
Finally. We have checked with the PSNI regarding traffic movements for this weeks Cookstown 100, they are happy for the event to go ahead, rather than change courses or times but the organisers would ask for volunteers to marshal the junctions, marshal the dead turn and help ensure that all riders get a good clean run to the finish. If your going to spectate then please help out, any riders who bring a helper get a free start, so if you can help, let the organisers know on 07921928445 or via the Ernie Magwood Super 6 Facebook page.
