NPS Round 1 – Slade Valley

The Wheeler’s were well represented at the 1st round of the xc national points series in Dublin at the weekend. Some had even managed to get a night away in a local hotel! For the rest, it was an early start on Sunday morning followed by a 2 hour drive.

Best performance of the day must go to Sean Scullion, who won an exciting S3 race, in a field of over 70 riders Sean lead from the 1st lap and was hounded all the way by his closest rival from Epic MTB until the last big climb of the race when Sean opened up a comfortable lead, crossing the finish line to cheers from all the wheelers. Raymond recovered from a hard fall to finish 18th.

Gordon Roberts on the podium as well claiming 2nd in the s4 race, closely followed by Gerard Ferrity in 5th, who is getting some great results in his first season of xc racing. Gary came in 15th while both Sean Bleeks and Kieran Gilligan both had mechicials.
