Strabane 100

The annual Strabane 100 undertaken by the Pleasure Team took place on Saturday 24th May. This tough 100 mile journey includes 7000 feet of climbing through some of the remotest and most beautiful parts of the Sperrins. Of the 15 people who set off on this trip 5 of them were undertaking the trip for the first time; 4 of the team were female and 1 was only 14 years of age.

Mother & son
Claiming another first in the Island Wheelers were mother and son pairing Patricia and Niall Mc Keown who become the first Mother & Son pair in the Island Wheelers to cycle 100 miles. This is a remarkable achievement and both deserve the highest praise from the Island Wheelers. Well done to both.

Youngest 100
Niall Mc Keown at 14 becomes the youngest Island Wheeler to cycle 100 miles and this was no soft 100 miles; with 7000 feet of climbing this journey would have tested many of the Island Wheelers most accomplished cyclists. Niall’s achievement is outstanding and should serve as an inspiration to us all. Well done Niall , you were remarkable.

First Timers
There were 5 first timers on the Strabane 100 , Niall Mc Keown, Roisin McLernon, Brenda Ferrity, Paul Hughes and Barry Bleeks(not in photo) . All thoroughly enjoyed the day and all agreed that it wouldn’t be their last time on the trip.
