It was another fantastic victory for Island Wheeler youth, Nathan Weir, who won the Sean Nolan Meath GP under 16 race on Sunday 9th June. Nathan was competing in very hot conditions and against a strong field with riders from all over Ireland. The racing itself was fast, and had a many attacks throughout the five laps; however no substantial breakaway was able to stay away. Going into the final lap Nathan positioned himself cleverly at the head of the peloton, and with 600 metres to the line he made his winning move by attacking and taking a long sprint to the line, holding off the bunch with ease to claim his first open race win of the season. Unfortunately, a number of riders were involved in a crash at the back of the bunch at the end of the race, thankfully no one was seriously hurt. Nathan and everyone from the club would like to with all involved a speedy recovery.
